Kansas City Missouri and Kansas have been named as one of the top ten metropolitan
areas in the United States that will be included in the first-round of
National Competitive Bidding for DME under the Medicare program
MAMES has created this Competitive Bidding Resource Area to build a collection
of important information to help providers prepare for this completely
remodeled payment methodology that dramatically affects providers and the
Medicare beneficiaries they serve in this community.
CMS expects to begin the bidding process in late April 2007 (as of May
4, 2007 it has not been posted), to announce the "winning" suppliers
in early December 2007, and to have payments under the program go into
effect in April 2008. Please feel free to use the information below as
a resource when preparing for and managing the activity, decisions and
processes for the implementation of this new payment model for home medical
equipment consumers and providers.
